The agriculture sector in Turkey has a major role in contributing to employment, production, exports, and national income, as it has always had. According to the data announced by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), the export figure in 2019 of the agricultural industry rose by 3,04% to 23 million dollars compared to the previous year. The export share of the agriculture sector in total exports was 12,96% in 2019. With this ratio, the agriculture sector ranked second place after the Industry sector of which the export share was 76% in total exports.

The agriculture product group which has the highest export figure in 2019 was Cereals, Legumes, Oil Seeds and Products. It rose by 1.64% and reached to the level of 6 billion dollars in total compared to the previous year. Its ratio of total exports was 29%.
Furniture, Paper, and Forestry product group ranked second place according to 2019 export figures. Furniture, Paper, and Forestry products which had a 23% ratio in total exports rose by 10% to 5.5 billion dollars.
The highest increment in the agriculture sector was in Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products with an increment of 24%. While the export value of Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products was 1.6 billion dollars in 2018, it reached to the level of 2 billion dollars in 2019. Its ratio of total exports was 8,6%.
Italy took place on the top in Turkey's hazelnut export with 83.898 tons of hazelnuts valuing 547 billion 588 thousand dollars. Germany ranked at the second place with the export of 434 million 806 Thousand dollars and France ranked at the third place with the export of 147 million 75 thousand dollars. The hazelnut kernels export of 11 thousand 180 tons which was made to China has also an important share in the increment of Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products export in 2019.
