The fresh vegetable product group is one of the most important export items of Turkey along with having a significant place in the national economy due to the reason it provides employment thanks to its business lines spread through different fields.
Thanks to the potential especially in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, high amounts of fresh vegetables are currently exported.
Russia has a very important export share in this product group and remains the most important market.
One of the most important factors in the export of the fresh vegetable product group is having a good logistics infrastructure. Packaging, storage, transportation services are of great importance in the export of products that may deteriorate quickly, such as fresh fruits and vegetables. All these processes should be issued under suitable conditions depending on the properties of the products. Otherwise, both buyer and seller can have situations that will prevent the process from working properly.
In Turkey, while the export volume of fresh vegetables product group was 80.765.599 kg in February 2019, it reached 95.590.582 kg in February 2020. The share of the fresh vegetable export value within the fresh fruits, vegetables, and citrus total export value in 2020 is 34 percent.
